According to Mark Mattson (2008) Hormesis is a toxicological term for a biphasic (two phase) dose response to an environmental agent that has beneficial effects at low doses and inhibitory or harmful effects at high doses.
Since reading Antifragile (by Taleb Nassim) have become ruthless about building MarkedUp.ai in a way that benefits from hormesis. For example, initially we want high doses of usage and failure so that we can rebuild systems and processes to become antifragile or at least robust.
This is why I am debating whether to plan for or stay in a steady state. Perhaps I am thinking like my cousin's husband who is a firefighter. During his training, he had to wiggle his way through a 40-foot pitch-black tube just the size of him and his equipment. Failure to make it through results in being fired from the force. Wiggling through it is a claustrophobic nightmare. Since becoming a firefighter, he now faces the 40' tube frequently, even tho he has passed his training. Thus chipping away at his fear and building his system's resilience.
