13 Jan 2025 - Didn't expect these survey results!

Thank you to all our respondents. We hope to continuously update this blog as more and more people complete this survey. The results were confirmed in some ways and surprising in others!

We had a solid mix of respondents, of which only 22% were GCs, 16% were Architects, 10% were owners, and 10% were Engineers.

73% agree that Architects and Engineers are responsible for drawing revisions.

92% agree/strongly agree that drawing reviews are time-consuming.

An overwhelming 94% would like automated issue review - the other 6% might love the manual way!

70% of respondents use Bluebeam for plan review, and 52% somewhat like the existing tools. Interestingly, 73% think plan viewing is a commodity and would like more plan viewing app options. We take this very positively!

54% said it takes 1-2 days to review a 140-page plan set, while 34% said it takes at least 7 days to review a 140-page plan set. 92% agree that poor drawing quality reduces site team confidence. While 35% agree that GCs avoid confronting architects in front of owners, some optional responses made us giggle! For example, " They seem to love pointing out our mistakes in front of owners."

59% agree that RFIs take at least 5 days to receive responses. This, along with the quality and time required to review results, suggests that this process needs to be expedited!

We also got an incredible list of ideas based on issues that bug our respondents that our team is considering as we develop MarkedUp.

Again, thank you to everyone who responded. The survey is still live, and we would appreciate it if everyone shared it so we can gather more data for product development.
